Mechanical Design

Current research in Mechanical Design includes design automation; design of automotive components and systems (emphasizing electric and hybrid electric systems that greatly improve fuel economy and reduce emissions) and very lightweight electric drive systems, intelligent machines and robotics, interactive computer-aided design of mechanical systems, materials handling equipment and spatial mechanisms, and applied mechanics of composite materials.
